CHERYL GUERRERO

I have been in the newspaper industry since 2006, working as a photojournalist and shooting editorial photography including news, politics, protests, education, events, features, arts & entertainment, food reviews and portraiture. I have worked for newspapers including the Oakland Tribune, Star Tribune (Minneapolis, Minn.), Plain Dealer (Cleveland, Ohio), Palm Beach Post (West Palm Beach, Fla.), Miami Herald, Chicago Tribune, Press-Enterprise, Orange County Register, Wall St. Journal, and Los Angeles Times. I was selected for Poynter Institute’s Summer Fellowship 6-week program, which is a journalism media institute.

I am currently a video|photojournalist for the Los Angeles Times. For the last year, I have also picked up on video producing and editing, shooting arts & entertainment, features and self generated stories.

I am currently producing and editing a portrait series and audio interviews with female breakdancers here in Southern California, a video series on fresh produce tips and fitness, and a Halloween feature video. I am currently researching and working on a documentary about prisons.

I believe that having your personal projects, interests and ideas outside of work will only cater to your growth, progression, creativity, and to your true passions within your life path. When you’re doing what you love, it becomes.
